Patients who undergo total laryngectomy often experience difficulties with their voice, olfaction, and taste due to the lack of airflow through nasal oral cavities. While voice rehabilitation is more commonly performed, olfactory has gained importance in recent times use various techniques. Previous studies have shown that incidence hyposmia or anosmia (partial loss smell) after ranges from 25% 100%. However, rehabilitation, there been notable improvement ranging 46% 88% patients. There are two main techniques for rehabilitation. The first involves creating smelling purposes by connecting cavity tracheostoma using prosthetic laryngeal bypass devices. second technique orofacial musculature training, which includes a airflow-inducing maneuver known as “polite yawning technique.” This creates negative pressure oropharynx, resulting induction potentially improving olfaction. Additionally, biofeedback can facilitate cavity, further enhancing sense smell. In this review, we will introduce principles, pathogenesis, well summarize outcomes efforts.
