چکیده
ABSTRACT Introduction: People with epilepsy frequently complain of poor memory. Objective: To assess the occurrence memory complaints in older adults (OAE) and whether it is associated clinical variables, objective cognitive performance, quality life (QoL). Methods: The Memory Complaint Questionnaire (MAC-Q) was related to Neurological Disorders Depression Inventory for Epilepsy (NDDI-E), Quality Life (QOLIE-31), characteristics 83 OAE. Results: OAE showed worse performance higher MAC-Q scores when compared a similar control group (n=40). Impairment multiple domains occurred 34 (41%) age lower educational level. (MAC-Q≥25) were reported by 45 (54.2%) age, level, onset at ≥60 years, NDDI-E scores, QOLIE-31 impairment domains. Conclusions: presented greater complaints. Episode years complaints, but not deficit. We found an association between subjective aspects QoL scores.

Memory strategy use in older adults with subjective memory complaints
BACKGROUND Subjective memory complaints (SMC) are common among older adults, but it is unclear to what extent adults with SMC spontaneously use memory strategies to compensate for their memory problems. As SMC may be a risk factor for memory decline later, it is important to extend our knowledge about spontaneous compensatory mechanisms in older adults with SMC. METHOD Self-reported strategy ...
متن کاملThe moderating role of negative affect on objective verbal memory performance and subjective memory complaints in healthy older adults.
Subjective memory complaints (SMCs) are part of the diagnostic criteria for Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), yet little is known about their etiology. In some previous studies, no direct relation has been found between SMCs and objective memory performance, yet significant correlations have been identified between SMCs and psychological factors such as depression and anxiety. In the current stu...
متن کاملCorrelates of memory decline: a 4-year longitudinal study of older adults with memory complaints.
Change in memory performance and its correspondence to change in speed of performance and self-reported memory functioning were investigated longitudinally in 30 older adults with memory complaints. Subjects were assessed by self-report questionnaires and cognitive tests 3 times, at near 2-year intervals. A significant decline in word-recall scores was found, which was accompanied at the group ...
متن کاملHippocampal hypometabolism in older adults with memory complaints and increased amyloid burden.
OBJECTIVE To identify the functional and pathologic correlates underlying subjective memory complaints (SMCs) in cognitively normal older adults. METHODS Two hundred fifty-one older adults underwent resting-state fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-PET and Pittsburg compound B-PET β-amyloid (Aβ) imaging and filled out a questionnaire regarding SMCs. Participants were classified into 2 groups based on th...
متن کاملNon-Exercise Estimated Cardiorespiratory Fitness: Associations with Brain Structure, Cognition, and Memory Complaints in Older Adults.
There is increasing evidence that cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) is associated with brain structure and function, and improvements in CRF through exercise training have been associated with neural and cognitive functioning in older adults. The objectives of this study were to validate the use of a non-exercise estimate of CRF, and to examine its association with cognitive function, brain struc...
