چکیده
The worldwide demand for vegetable oils is rising. Oilseed rape (Brassica napus) diversifies cereal dominated crop rotations but requires important nitrogen input. Yet, the root organ offering an untapped opportunity to improve capture in soil. This study evaluates three culture systems controlled environment, observe morphology and identify attributes superior biomass production use. phenotypic diversity a panel of 55 modern winter oilseed cultivars was screened response two divergent nitrate supplies. Upon vitro hydroponic cultures, large variability morphologies observed. Root morphological traits positively correlated with shoot or leaf area. activities high-affinity transport negatively area, while combined high- low-affinity total length. X-ray computed tomography permitted visualize system pipes filled phenotype at germination stage indicative lateral deployment soil-grown plants. highlights great genetic potential rape, which could be manipulated optimize characteristics substantial implications agricultural production.

Nitrogen is essential for plant growth, and N fertilization allows farmers to obtain high yields and produce sufficient agricultural commodities. On the other hand, nitrogen losses potentially cause adverse effects to ecosystems and to human health. Increasing nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) is vital to solve the conflict between productivity, to secure the demand of a growing world population, a...
متن کاملInterrelationships among oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.) grain yield and weed growth under different nitrogen levels
Management of nitrogen fertilization in crops is one of the most important components of integrated weed management. A two-year field experiment was conducted to determine the direct effects of wild mustard aboveground biomass and N content of wild mustard on oilseed rape yield. A set of factorial treatments was arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Treatments w...
متن کاملContribution of Nitrogen Uptake and Retranslocation during Reproductive Growth to the Nitrogen Efficiency of Winter Oilseed-Rape Cultivars (Brassica napus L.) Differing in Leaf Senescence
Genotypic variation in N efficiency defined as high grain yield under limited nitrogen (N) supply of winter oilseed-rape line-cultivars has been predominantly attributed to N uptake efficiency (NUPT) through maintained N uptake during reproductive growth related to functional stay-green. For investigating the role of stay-green, N retranslocation and N uptake during the reproductive phase for g...
