Oil extraction from seeds of Carica papaya L.: Obtaining the lipid profile and thermal evaluation

Carica papaya L. is frequently found in northern and northeastern Brazil, the Caribbean Central America. The seed oil was extracted using Soxhlet extraction. Its has low acidity, iodine index, saponification peroxide values adequate comparable to other commercially available vegetable oils. lipid profile of this also obtained by gas chromatography; thermal characterization performed thermogravimetry (TG) differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) under various heating rates. composition in-nature indicates that oleic palmitic fatty acids are predominant. DSC analysis cooling shows crystallization phase similar olive oil, thermogravimetric results show decomposition nitrogen purge occurs only one stage. activation energy applying isoconversional methods proposed Capela Ribeiro, Ozawa Friedman. kinetics data leads a dependence on sample mass gases, which several kinetic patterns.
