Diagonal and Monomial Solutions of the Matrix Equation AXB=C
In this article, we consider the matrix equation $AXB=C$, where A, B, C are given matrices and give new necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the diagonal solutions and monomial solutions to this equation. We also present a general form of such solutions. Moreover, we consider the least squares problem $min_X |C-AXB |_F$ where $X$ is a diagonal or monomial matrix. The explici...
متن کاملOff-diagonal Submatrices of a Hermitian Matrix
A necessary and sufficient condition is given to a p × q complex matrix X to be an off-diagonal block of an n × n Hermitian matrix C with prescribed eigenvalues (in terms of the eigenvalues of C and singular values of X). The proof depends on some recent breakthroughs in the study of spectral inequalities on the sum of Hermitian matrices by Klyachko and Fulton. Some interesting geometrical prop...
متن کاملPrimitive Ideal Space of Ultragraph $C^*$-algebras
In this paper, we describe the primitive ideal space of the $C^*$-algebra $C^*(mathcal G)$ associated to the ultragraph $mathcal{G}$. We investigate the structure of the closed ideals of the quotient ultragraph $ C^* $-algebra $C^*left(mathcal G/(H,S)right)$ which contain no nonzero set projections and then we characterize all non gauge-invariant primitive ideals. Our results generalize the ...
متن کاملLocal higher derivations on C*-algebras are higher derivations
Let $mathfrak{A}$ be a Banach algebra. We say that a sequence ${D_n}_{n=0}^infty$ of continuous operators form $mathfrak{A}$ into $mathfrak{A}$ is a textit{local higher derivation} if to each $ainmathfrak{A}$ there corresponds a continuous higher derivation ${d_{a,n}}_{n=0}^infty$ such that $D_n(a)=d_{a,n}(a)$ for each non-negative integer $n$. We show that if $mathfrak{A}$ is a $C^*$-algebra t...
متن کاملDiagonal Dominance and Harmless Off-diagonal Delays
Systems of linear differential equations with constant coefficients, as well as Lotka–Volterra equations, with delays in the off–diagonal terms are considered. Such systems are shown to be asymptotically stable for any choice of delays if and only if the matrix has a negative weakly dominant diagonal.
