Occurrence of microbial community on plastic wastes in Terjun Landfill, North Sumatra

Abstract Plastisphere is a term for any microbial community that grow and develop on the surface of plastic. There was still lot plastics readily disposed in landfills, which would makes it feasible to discover bacteria could decompose plastic be used bioremediation. The present study aims determine number density (colonies) obtainining (bacteria, fungi) isolates from four different types namely low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear (LLDPE), high-density (HDPE) polypropylene (PP). bacterial population highest LDPE, followed by LLDPE, PP, HDPE. Meanwhile, fungal exceptionally low this study. A greater portion gram-negative larger than gram-positive with some filamentous fungi obtained isolation. visual appearance using SEM analysis reveal presence mixed between bacteria, yeast population.
