چکیده
Our goal is to show that temporomandibular disorder (TMD) patients with orthopaedic instability can be effectively treated by the combination of occlusal splint therapy and molar intrusion. Diagnostic records 18 reporting previous TMD were evaluated. Postsplint anterior open bite was skeletally anchored Changes in overjet (OJ), overbite (OB) measured on articulator mounted models: initially maximal intercuspidation (MI), centric “de jour”, postsplint relation (CR) postintrusion CR. ANB (A point-Nasion-B point) angle, mandibular plane–palatal plane angle facial axis assessed lateral cephalograms. Morphological changes condyle detected pre-and posttreatment CBCT images. When compared screening mountings MI models, significant differences found OJ OB. Following wear, there a increase lower height decrease which turn increased angle. OB showed change when MI. After intrusion, mandible exhibited counterclockwise rotation, decreased height, OJ. Posttreatment CBCTs confirmed improved condylar morphology.Occlusal followed orthodontic intrusion provides MI-CR harmony, therefore, it seems an effective method for treating patients.

متن کاملA case series of temporomandibular disorders treated with acupuncture, occlusal splint and point injection therapy.
A treatment regime combining acupuncture, occlusal splint and point injection therapy for temporomandibular disorders (TMD) is presented. There were 89 consecutive patients treated by the regime in this case series but four patients dropped out after two to three visits. Data and treatment results of the remaining 85 patients who had treatment completed were analysed. It was found that 73 (85%)...
متن کاملComputerized analysis of occlusal contacts in bruxism patients treated with occlusal splint therapy
PURPOSE Occlusal splints are commonly used to prevent tooth wear caused by bruxism. However, the effects of splints on occlusion are still unclear. Although it is rarely alluded in literature, splints can provoke severe occlusal alterations and other complications. This study was aimed to identify differences in the responses of individuals with bruxism and healthy individuals to a full-arch ma...
