چکیده

At the Central Experimental Station of Ecuadorian Amazon INIAP, nutritional composition forage Pennisetum purpureum Schumach x glaucum L was evaluated. (Cuba OM-22) in different cut-off ages (30, 45 and 60 days). There were 12 plots 6m2 each approximately six months establishment, a completely randomized block design (DBCA) used with three treatments four repetitions, variables subjected to an analysis variance, means evaluated Tukey's test at 0.05%, addition regression correlation performed. All studied except dry matter acid detergent lignin presented significant highly differences; 30 days cut-off, highest values found, ash (19.04%), ethereal extract (2.84%), protein (14.20%), FDA (34.67%) FDN (56.29%). It is concluded that Cuba OM-22, cutting age presents values, however, it considered necessary adequate management crop guarantee agronomic development persistence crop.

Genomic homeology between Pennisetum purpureum and Pennisetum glaucum (Poaceae)

The genus Pennisetum (Richard, 1805) includes two economically important tropical forage plants: Pennisetum purpureum (Schumacher, 1827) (elephant grass), with 2n = 4x = 28 chromosomes and genomes A'A'BB, and Pennisetum glaucum (Linnaeus, 1753) (pearl millet), with 2n = 2x = 14 chromosomes and genomes AA. The genetic proximity between them allows hybrids to be obtained (2n = 3x = 21) that yield...

The endophytic bacteria isolated from elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach) promote plant growth and enhance salt tolerance of Hybrid Pennisetum

BACKGROUND Elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach) and Hybrid Pennisetum (Pennisetum americanum × P. purpureum Schumach) are tall, fast-growing perennial C4 bunchgrasses that have been in recent developed as the most appropriate biomass feedstock in many countries for exploring various biofuel products. However, the challenges of increasing plant biomass yield and enhancing their stress ...

DNA elimination in embryogenic development of Pennisetum glaucum x Pennisetum purpureum (Poaceae) hybrids.

Interspecific hybridization between Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum), which is widely grown in Brazil for cattle forage, and pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) has been used as a breeding strategy for the development of improved cultivars. However, the hybrid between these two species is sterile due to its triploid condition (2n = 3x = 21 chromosomes), which hinders its use in crop breeding p...

Assessment of genetic diversity in accessions of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) and napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum) using microsatellite (ISSR) markers

Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.) and napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schumach) are the most economically important species in the genus Pennisetum. Knowledge of genetic diversity of these two species would enhance their potentials for utilization. The present work assessed the genetic diversity and phylogenetic relationship among Nigerian and Indian accessions of pearl millet an...

Lipophilic extractives from the cortex and pith of elephant grass ( Pennisetum purpureum Schumach.) stems.

The composition of lipophilic extractives in the cortex and pith of elephant grass ( Pennisetum purpureum Schumach.) stems was thoroughly studied by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The predominant compounds were fatty acids followed by sterols (in free and conjugated forms as esters and glycosides). Other steroid compounds, as steroid hydrocarbons and ketones, were also present. Addition...
