Nurturing Intercultural Theological Education towards Social Justice Ideals in South Africa

Post-apartheid South Africa, almost three decades into the democracy, is a society in crisis, facing burgeoning economic and social challenges. Religion seen as potential force supporting cohesion nation building. Theological education its handling of diversity decoloniality reveals complicity avoidance. A significant task to embrace ‘other’ affirm equality dignity all people, bearing mind there sufficient theological impetus for this. key question this study how can engage an intercultural ideal towards authentic participation development society. This article resources process embodied formative within mediated learning environment create hospitable space about differences. It also allows antiracist pedagogies be realised safer community. Attention given on epistemological justice decolonisation engaged, envisioning less domineering approach that makes other voices. contextual case affirms African identity, revealing humanising support political change at interpersonal level, well geo-political decolonial agenda creating engagement equals.
