Nursing Interventions to Promote Self-Care in a Candidate for a Bowel Elimination Ostomy: Scoping Review

Objectives: To identify nursing interventions, their characteristics, and outcomes for promoting self-care in candidates a bowel elimination ostomy. Materials methods: A scoping review was carried out based on the Joanna Briggs Institute’s recommendations. For this, studies published Portuguese, English, Spanish Web of Science, CINAHL, Scopus databases without time limit were selected November 9, 2020. Results: Of 2248 articles identified, 41 included this review. We identified 20 interventions associated with patients an ostomy; most them have gaps content, method, frequency or dosing. More than 30 indicators to assess impact interventions; however, indirect assessments. Conclusion: There is scarce evidence regarding different aspects that must be involved stoma. Moreover, there no standardization methods, frequency, dosing intervention. It urgent define necessary promote ostomy use assessment tools directly measure stoma competence.
