Numerical Study on the Non-Oscillatory Unstarted Flow in a Scramjet Inlet-Isolator Model

For successful scramjet engine operations, it is important to understand the mechanism of inlet unstart phenomenon. Among various unstarted flow patterns in hypersonic inlets, low-amplitude oscillatory still unclear. Therefore, present study, characteristics non-oscillatory a inlet-isolator model are studied by using numerical analysis with RANS-based OpenFOAM solver. In results, amplitude pressure oscillation and average near outlet good agreement experimental results. detailed found that incoming within boundary layers repeatedly changes direction due blockage at end model. these direction-changing processes, recirculation zones walls irregularly influence choked rear part These irregular behaviors result flow. Additionally, main differences between high-amplitude addressed.
