Numerical Study of Engine Performance and Emissions for Port Injection of Ammonia into a Gasoline\Ethanol Dual-Fuel Spark Ignition Engine

This study aims to investigate the effect of port injection ammonia on performance, knock and NOx emission across a range engine speeds in gasoline/ethanol dual-fuel engine. An experimentally validated numerical model naturally aspirated spark-ignition (SI) was developed AVL BOOST for purpose this investigation. The vibe two zone combustion model, which is widely used mathematical modeling engines employed analysis process. A significant reduction ~50% emissions observed speed range. However, imposed some negative impacts equivalent BSFC, CO HC emissions, increasing these parameters by 3%, 30% 21%, respectively, at 10% ratio. Additionally, minimum octane number primary fuel required prevent reduced up 3.6% adding between 5 10%. All all, inside bio-fueled could make it robust produce less NOx, while having undesirable effects emissions.
