چکیده
The aim of the current project is to carry out FEA framework for predicting flexural strength notched foam concrete tested under three-point bending following conducted experimental set-up. investigated testing series have a variation notch size opening in foamed beam. Traction-separation relationship was used as constitutive model incorporate independent material properties and modelling framework. Modelling techniques 2D XFEM CZM were adopted later expanded 3D models. Good agreement found between predicted structure response observation all Crack initiated at crack tip propagated beam edge applied load. It that average discrepancies below 20% within techniques. Less using models, partly due simplification failure path. implemented this potentially predictive tool estimating with notches.

Influence of High Temperatures on Flexural Strength of Foamed Concrete Containing Fly Ash and Polypropylene Fiber
In this study, the elevated temperature flexural strengths of lightweight foamed concrete (LFC) containing fly ash (FA) and polypropylene fiber (PF) was investigated experimentally and statistically. The variables included were the temperature degrees (in a range of 20 to 600°C), LFC densities of 600, 800, 1000, 1200 and 1400 kg/m3 and additive content. Two mixes were made by replacing 15% and ...
متن کاملFlexural Strengthening of Deficient Reinforced Concrete Beams with Post-Tensioned Carbon Composites using Finite Element Modelling
The application of external post-tensioned steel bars as an effective way to strengthen an existing bridge has been so far used in many different countries. In recent decades, however, they have been replaced by bars made from Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP), as a material with high tensile strength and corrosion resistance, to address several concerns with steel bars such as their appli...
متن کاملEffect of Incorporating Foamed Glass on the Flexural Behaviour of Reinforced Concrete Beams
The flexural behaviour of concrete containing Foamed glass as partial replacement of coarse aggregate is investigated. The coarse aggregate was replaced with 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% Foamed glass. All other constituents were maintained the same. Reinforced concrete beams were cast using 2 bars of 8mm in diameter in the tensile zone. The density and compressive strength of concrete decreased a...
متن کاملFlexural performance of layered ECC-concrete composite beam
The pseudo strain-hardening behavior of fiber reinforced engineered cementitious composites (ECC) is a desirable characteristic for it to act as a substitute for concrete to suppress brittle failure. The use of ECC in the industry is, however, limited by its high cost. To achieve higher cost/performance ratio, ECC can be strategically applied in parts of a structure that is under relatively hig...
متن کاملNumerical Study on the Flexural Behaviour of Concrete Beams Reinforced by GFRP Bars
Enhancement of the response of reinforced concrete (RC) beams using fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement bars has become a popular structural technique over the past two decades due to the well-known advantages of FRP composites including their high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent corrosion resistance. Thisstudy presents n...
