Numerical modeling of near-wellbore diverter bridging in hydraulic fracturing

Abstract In this work, we used a particle transport model integrated into the fluid solver in FLAC to simulate of particles near-wellbore region inside hydraulic fracture. Complex flow behaviors, including divergent near fracture entrance and detouring around diverter packs, can be captured coupling system. numerical implementation, coupled are realized by updating permeability, concentration, velocities each time step. Simulation results indicate that final shape bridging zone at is determined flow-driven settling-driven transport. A continuous band initially forms bottom fracture, then fluid-driven move upwards block top Lastly, V-shaped formed It observed high initial concentration large size result creation small-scale injection entrance, which promotes rapid growth closed high-pressure buildup.
