چکیده
A 2D numerical investigation of the power absorption a constrained wave energy hyperbaric converter (WEHC) under full-scale sea conditions is presented. fully non-linear model DualSPHysics, based on coupling smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) fluid solver with multibody dynamics solver, used to interaction between and WEHC sub-systems. The was first validated against experimental data for similar device, good accordance PTO position velocity. then employed study considering several states, different hydraulic take-off (PTO) damping breakwater geometries. It observed that capture width ratio (CWR) particularly sensitive variations in damping, although CWR absolute maximum less mild applied damping. Both height period have an important effect CWR. geometry also essential performance WEHC, decrease about 15% porous breakwater. These results are necessary understand behaviour WEHC.

Numerical modeling of the effects of wave energy converter characteristics on nearshore wave conditions
Modeled nearshore wave propagation was investigated downstream of simulated wave energy converters (WECs) to evaluate overall nearand far-field effects of WEC arrays. Model sensitivity to WEC characteristics and WEC array deployment scenarios was evaluated using a modified version of an industry standard wave model, Simulating WAves Nearshore (SWAN), which allows the incorporation of device-spe...
متن کاملExperimental Evaluation of IRWEC1, a Novel Offshore Wave Energy Converter
This paper describes the innovative offshore point-absorber wave energy converter (WEC), IRWEC1, under development by the Hydrodynamics, Acoustics and Marine propulsion Group at Babol Noshirvani University of Technology. Totally enclosed in an outer shell, with no external moving parts, IRWEC1 is completely sealed which make it a robust and trustable system. Important motion for this WEC is the...
متن کاملStochastic Control of Inertial Sea Wave Energy Converter
The ISWEC (inertial sea wave energy converter) is presented, its control problems are stated, and an optimal control strategy is introduced. As the aim of the device is energy conversion, the mean absorbed power by ISWEC is calculated for a plane 2D irregular sea state. The response of the WEC (wave energy converter) is driven by the sea-surface elevation, which is modeled by a stationary and h...

However it is possible to use of numerical methods such as beta-Newmark in order to investigate the structural response behavior of the dynamic systems under random sea wave loads but because of necessity to analysis the offshore systems for extensive time to fatigue study it is important to use of simple stable methods for numerical integration. The modified Euler method (MEM) is a simple nume...
متن کاملModel predictive control of a sea wave energy converter: a convex approach
This paper investigates model predictive control (MPC) of a sea wave energy converter(WEC). A novel objective function is adopted in the MPC design, which brings obvious benefits: First, the quadratic program (QP) derived from this objective function can be easily convexified, which facilitates the employment of existing efficient optimization algorithms. Second, this novel design can trade off...
