چکیده

In turbulent mixed convection conditions, flow and heat transfer can deteriorate under specific thus affecting the performance of safety system, which could imperil nuclear reactor. this paper, by analyzing velocity, temperature distributions, other thermal-hydraulic parameters, steady-state computational fluid dynamics approach with SST k–? turbulence model used in study was verified. Then, characteristics inside 2 × subchannels without spacer grids were investigated. The results showed that velocity profiles distorted capacity impaired due to influence buoyancy. Nusselt number ratio (Nu/Nuf) between forced increased increase Reynolds (Re) until unity but decreased increases Grashof (Gr) Buoyancy parameter (Bo*).

Numerical Comparison of Turbulent Heat Transfer and Flow Characteristics of SiO2/Water Nanofluid within Helically Corrugated Tubes and Plain Tube

Turbulent heat transfer in Helically Corrugated Tubes (HCT) was numerically investigated for pure water and SiO2 nanofluid using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). This study was carried out for different corrugating pitches (5, 7, 8 mm) and heights (0.5, 0.75, 1.25 mm) at various Reynolds numbers ranging from 5000 to 13300. The effect of nanoparticles on heat transfer augmentation for plain t...

Numerical Predictions of Turbulent Mixed Convection Heat Transfer to Supercritical Fluids Using Various Low Reynolds Number k-e Turbulence Models

There are a number of systems in which supercritical cryogenic fluids are used as coolants or propellant fluids. In some modern military aircraft, the fuel is pressurized above its critical point and used as a coolant to remove heat from the aircraft engine. Accurate prediction of heat transfer coefficients to turbulent flows of supercritical fluids is essential in design of such systems. One o...

Numerical simulation of mixed convection heat transfer of nanofluid in an inclined enclosure by applying LBM

Mixed convection of Cu-Water nanofluid is studied numerically in a shallow inclined enclosure by applying lattice Boltzmann method. The D2Q9 lattice and internal energy distribution function based on the BGK collision operator are used in order to develop the thermal flow field. The enclosure's hot lid has the constant velocity of U0 while its cold lower wall has no motion. Moreover, sidewalls ...

CFD Investigation of Turbulent Mixed Convection Heat Transfer in a Closed Lid-Driven Cavity

Both steady and unsteady turbulent mixed convection heat transfer in a 3D lid-driven enclosure, which has constant heat flux on the middle of bottom wall and with isothermal moving sidewalls, is reported in this paper for working fluid with Prandtl number Pr = 0.71. The other walls are adiabatic and stationary. The dimensionless parameters used in this research are Reynolds number, Re = 5000, 1...
