Numerical Investigation of the Flexure Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Spandrel Beams with Distributed Tension Reinforcement

When the flange of a reinforced concrete spandrel beam is in tension, current design codes and specifications enable portion bonded flexure tension reinforcement to be distributed over an effective width. The flexural behavior RC L-shaped when laterally displaced investigated experimentally numerically this work. Numerical analysis utilizing finite element method performed on discretized flanged models validated using verified specimens achieve study objectives. A parametric was carried out evaluate influence various factors beam’s behavior. Results showed that as percentage has increased greater width flange, considerable drop strength observed with excessive deflection. According study, not more than 33% web might less ln/10, including region, recommended by ACI318-14.
