Numerical analysis of reinforced concrete beams subjected to impact loads

Abstract Numerical models for impact load assessment are becoming increasingly reliable and accurate in recent years. The processing time duration such analysis has been decreased to an acceptable level when combined with modern computer hardware. aim of this study was represent a simulation technique verify the validity software measuring response reinforced concrete beam strengthened by carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheet subjected loads at ultimate ranges. In investigation, ABAQUS/Explicit Software’s nonlinear finite element modeling had used. force–time history displacement–time graphs were compared existing experimental results. adopted general-purpose is verified be capable simulating accurately forecasting behavior structural systems. addition, parametric carried out gain better knowledge performance beams under loading. Four parameters changed among analyzed as velocity, mass, CFRP thickness, compressive strength concrete. Generally, it found that using strengthening can greatly improve members’ improving stiffness well increasing load-carrying capacities. enhanced characteristics correlate applied kinetic energy thicknesses. Finally, high strength, deflection values reduced because increase stiffness.
