Numerical Analysis of Propeller-Induced Hydrodynamic Interaction between Ships

چکیده

The hydrodynamic interaction effects between ships are significantly pronounced in restricted waters, and this may potentially threaten the safety of ships, especially given that ship dimensions waterway traffic have kept increasing. Although there has been a good amount research on interactions, study effect propeller ship’s is very limited. In paper, series RANSE-based numerical simulations carried out to characteristics near-field without speed. forces moment acting calculated analyzed. Through analysis flow field behavioral pattern forces, it found significant influence pressure distribution hull as well forces. maximum lateral force interacting could reach 0.58 times standard thrust KP458 (the revolution 594 rpm velocity coefficient 0.25 open water).

Numerical simulation of hull and propeller interaction in acceleration maneuver

Prediction of a ship’s trajectory during a maneuvering motion is so important. In this study, the acceleration maneuver for a twin-screw vessel is directly investigated using computational fluid dynamic (CFD) environment and unsteady RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes) solver. For this purpose, the self-propulsion and acceleration simulations with hull and propeller interaction for the well-...

Computational Analysis of Propeller Sheet Cavitation and Propeller-ship Interaction

This paper describes a computational procedure which is being developed for the practical analysis of propeller sheet cavitation and propeller-ship interaction including hull pressure fluctuations. The computational procedure consists of three different, coupled methods: (i) a RANS method for the analysis of the viscous flow around the ship hull and the determination of the velocity field in th...

Fluid-structure interaction studies on marine propeller

Composite propellers offer high damping characteristics and corrosion resistance when compared with metal propellers. But the design of a hybrid composite propeller with the same strength of metal propeller is the critical task. For this purpose, the present paper focusses on fluid-structure interaction analysis of hybrid composite propeller with Carbon/Epoxy, R-Glass/Epoxy and S2-Glass/Epoxy t...

Hydrodynamic Performance Evaluation of an Ice Class Podded Propeller under Ice Interaction

Fluid-structure interaction between an ice sheet on the water surface and a podded R-Class propeller was examined and analyzed in terms of numerical simulation using a newly enhanced unsteady timedomain, multiple body panel method model. The numerical model was validated and verified and also checked against various previous in-house experimental measurements. The simulation was performed in a ...
