Numerical Analysis of Flow across Brush Elements Based on a 2-D Staggered Tube Banks Model

In order to improve efficiency in turbomachinery, brush seal replaces labyrinth seals widely the secondary air system. A 2-d staggered tube bank model is adopted simulate gas states and pressure character seal, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) used solve this paper. According simulation results, corrected formula of Euler number dimensionless are given. The results show that expands when flow through bristle pack, expansion closes an isotherm process. dynamic increases with decreasing static pressure. can reflect performance leakage characteristics. Compared increasing rows, reduction gap a higher-efficiency method increase number. continually as decreases. However, differential increasing, first then decreases rows increases. Finally, distribution on surface end asymmetric, it may friction between bristles back plate.
