Novel Technique for Closed Reduction of Incarcerated Medial Epicondyle from the Elbow Joint

چکیده
While the majoriy of pediatric elbow dislocations are associated with a medial epicondyle fracture, an intra-articular incarecerated is rare complication closed reduction. Elbow incarceration in joint have typically been considered absolute indication for surgical intervention. There few described reduction techniques incarcerated fractures and manipulation often unsuccessful according to literature. We demonstrate novel technique which can be extricated from without use sedation, thus allowing conservative management these difficult injuries reducing risk perioperative complications.

Extraction of incarcerated medial epicondyle from the elbow joint using conventional nerve stimulator: a case report
INTRODUCTION Incarceration of the medial epicondyle is a well-recognised sequelae following closed reduction of the elbow. Manipulation for extraction is not usually successful and hence an incarcerated medial epicondyle is usually an indication for open reduction and fixation. CASE PRESENTATION We describe a simple technique of closed reduction using a conventional nerve stimulator to extrac...
متن کاملElbow dislocation with avulsion of the medial humeral epicondyle.
After dislocation of the elbow with avulsion of the medial epicondyle, the management of the latter is controversial. Of 28 children followed up after initial closed reduction of the elbow, 19 had a satisfactory closed reduction of the epicondyle and were treated in plaster. At follow-up, 11 children had a normal elbow and eight had lost an average of 15 degrees of flexion. Nine children had ha...
متن کاملA Novel Reduction Technique for Elbow
Elbow dislocations are a common orthopedic injury, but the ideal reduction method remains elusive. The complex trochoginglymus anatomy of the joint, along with the close proximity to neurovascular structures, makes the elbow a challenge to reduce. Elbow dislocations occur at a rate of approximately 6 to 8 cases per 100,000 individuals and account for 10% to 25% of all elbow injuries annually.1 ...
متن کاملElbow dislocation with bicondylar humeral fracture in an adult: a unique type of injury
Simultaneous fracture of lateral condyle and medial epicondyle of humerus along with elbow dislocation is very rare injury in adults. Only a few cases have been reported in literature in pediatric age groups. The authors describe a case report of fracture of lateral condyle and medial epicondyle of humerus along with elbow dislocation in a young adult. The patient sustained injury in the form o...
متن کاملRadiographic findings of the medial humeral epicondyle in 200 canine elbow joints.
OBJECTIVES To determine the frequency and radiographic aspect of medial humeral epicondylar lesions as a primary or concomitant finding and to evaluate the association with osteoarthritis. METHODS Medical records of dogs diagnosed with elbow lameness were reviewed. Inclusion criteria for this study were a complete clinical examination, a complete set of digital radiographs and a final diagnos...
