Novel hybrid organic/inorganic poly(thiourethane) covalent adaptable networks

Organic-inorganic hybrid materials combine the advantages of both phases: hardness and strength inorganic phase elasticity toughness organic matrix. In present study, we have prepared nanocomposites with a poly(thiourethane) polymeric matrix silsesquioxane-type structures, thiols as reactive groups (POSS-A or POSS-B, synthesized in different pressure conditions), looking for covalent interaction between phases, good dispersion. Due to click behavior reaction isocyanate thiol groups, highly homogeneous are obtained. Both monomers, catalyst (dibutyltin dilaurate, DBTDL), POSS precursor (3-mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane, MPTMS), commercially available, which advantage being industrially scalable. The incorporation leads an increase glassy rubbery storage moduli temperature maximum tan δ curve. vitrimeric poly(thiourethanes) improved incorporation, getting lower relaxation times. With higher proportion closed cages, POSS-B most significant improvements. All showed high transparency fracture modified indicates toughness.
