چکیده

Pesticide-free, 3-D, spacer fabrics (Plant Armor Generation (PA Gen) 1 and 2) were investigated for proof-of-concept as an insect barrier to protect plants improve plant agronomics organic farming. The time 50% penetration (TP50) tobacco thrips, Frankliniella fusca (Hinds) adults in laboratory Petri dish bioassays was 30 175 min PA Gen 2, respectively, 12 the control (a commercially available, single layer-crop cover, Proteknet). 2 ≥90% resistant of unfed caterpillar neonates, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie), while TP50‘s Proteknet 3.1 2.35 h, respectively. In small cage studies, covered potted cabbage 100% by these insects through 10 d after which study ended. field plot studies 3 summer months, grew approximately twice fast when versus not with without need insecticides or herbicides. This observed crop cover. Martindale abrasion tests demonstrated at least 6- 1.8-fold more durable than cover used. Data are also presented on percentage light, water, air, water vapor across each textile operational temperatures humidity uncovered plots.

The Study of Collagen Immobilization on a Novel Nanocomposite to Enhance Cell Adhesion and Growth

Background: Surface properties of a biomaterial could be critical in determining biomaterial’s biocompatibility due to the fact that the first interactions between the biological environment and artificial materials are most likely occurred at material’s surface. In this study, the surface properties of a new nanocomposite (NC) polymeric material were modified by combining plasma treatment and...

Plant viruses alter insect behavior to enhance their spread

Pathogens and parasites can induce changes in host or vector behavior that enhance their transmission. In plant systems, such effects are largely restricted to vectors, because they are mobile and may exhibit preferences dependent upon plant host infection status. Here we report the first evidence that acquisition of a plant virus directly alters host selection behavior by its insect vector. We...

Novel nanomicelle formulation to enhance bioavailability and stability of curcuminoids

Objective(s): Curcuminoids, comprising curcumin, demethoxycurcumin (DMC) and bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDMC), are bioactive phytochemicals with numerous pharmacological effects. Oral biological availability of curcuminoids is low due to the low aqueous solubility and rapid metabolism. This study aimed at fabricating a nanomicellar curcuminoid formula with enhanced pharmacokinetic properties. Materi...

Growth and development responses to UV-B exclusion in crops

UV-B radiation affects crop plants. Growing interest has been shown in studying the effectsof UV-B radiation exclusion on crops since 1993. This article summarized the generalconsequences of UV-B radiation exclusion on crop plants from the aspacts of plant morphology, growth and development. UV-B exlusion has promoting effects on plant height, internodeand leaf size. UV-B exclusion increases roo...

Plant fitness assessment for wild relatives of insect resistant crops.

Risk assessments of new insect-resistant crops will need to estimate the potential for increased weediness of wild crop relatives as a consequence of gene flow. When field experiments are precluded by containment concerns, simulation experiments can identify hazards or measure expected differences between GMOs and parental plants. To measure plant fitness consequences of wild plant protection f...
