Northward expansion of fire-adaptative vegetation in future warming

چکیده
Abstract Fire frequency and intensity are increasing due to higher temperatures more droughts. The distributions of fuels (vegetation in natural conditions) also changing response climate change. vegetation cold environments such as high latitudes altitudes is found move upward or northward global warming. However, few studies have investigated the distribution changes fire adaptive species warm environments. This study estimated compared a typical fuelwood, Eucalyptus globulus , under different scenarios. modeling techniques were adopted estimate current future scenarios both SSP245 SSP585 2060. Results show that probability existence Northern Hemisphere increases significantly ( p < 0.001) SSP585, especially North America Europe. Southern decreases. expands mid-latitude (40 N–60 N) Hemisphere. High carbon emissions contribute boost establishment These findings demonstrate shows tendency shifting change, highlighting challenge expansion fires

Modelling the Northward Expansion of Culicoides sonorensis (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) under Future Climate Scenarios
Climate change is affecting the distribution of pathogens and their arthropod vectors worldwide, particularly at northern latitudes. The distribution of Culicoides sonorensis (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) plays a key role in affecting the emergence and spread of significant vector borne diseases such as Bluetongue (BT) and Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) at the border between USA and Canada. W...

Introduction Conclusions References Tables Figures Back Close Abstract Introduction Conclusions References Tables Figures Back Close Abstract Biomass burning has long been recognised as an important source of trace gases and aerosols in the atmosphere. The burning of vegetation has a repeating seasonal pattern, but the intensity of burning and the exact localisation of fires vary considerably f...
متن کاملExpansion of the world’s deserts due to vegetation-albedo feedback under global warming
[1] Many subtropical regions are expected to become drier due to climate change. This will lead to reduced vegetation which may in turn amplify the initial drying. Using a coupled atmosphere-ocean-land model with a dynamic vegetation component that predicts surface albedo change, here we simulate the climate change from 1901 to 2099 with CO2 and other forcings. In a standard IPCC-style simulati...
متن کاملExpansion of the world's deserts due to global warming and vegetation-albedo feedback
Many subtropical and mid-latitude regions are expected to become drier due to climate change. This will lead to reduced vegetation which may in turn amplify the initial drying due to positive feedbacks such as albedo change in response to biome redistribution, an effect rarely accounted for in climate projections. Using a coupled atmosphere-ocean-land model with a dynamic vegetation component t...
متن کاملAlternative fire-driven vegetation states
Traditionally, most vegetation patterns were thought to be driven by environmental conditions (Holdridge 1947; Whittaker 1975). The role of animals in determining patterns of vegetation has also long been recognized (Hairston et al. 1960; Terborgh et al. 2006), given that herbivores consume vegetation and, in turn, are controlled by carnivores and parasites. There is an increasing volume of lit...
