چکیده
The nonlinear behavior of a rigid rotor supported by herringbone grooved journal gas bearings (HGJBs) was investigated in this study. two-dimensional narrow groove theory (2D-NGT) adopted to model the HGJBs. A set integrated rotor-bearing state equations were built coupling motion and bearing Reynolds equation. An implicit integrator with adaptive time step method used solve those continuously. Two low-stability HGJBs implemented experimentally demonstrate analyze appearance self-excitation motions. theoretical successfully validated experimental data on predicting onset speed sub-synchronous vibration HGJB-rotor system whirl frequency ratio. predicted limit cycle amplitude increases as until contacts surface, which leads failure. Forward conical mode dominates self-excited during whole range motion. prediction shows that can still operate stable, even though is installed vertically, i.e., without static load bearings. This distinct advantage comparison plain As applies increases, well. For system, an increase from 36 krpm 75 0 4 times weight. indicates increased HGJB stability load. orbits show complex shapes when imbalance excitation considered simulation. Nonlinear vibration signature analysis of a rotor supported ball bearings
The dynamic behaviour of a high speed balanced rotor supported on deep groove ball bearings (SKF-6205) has been studied by numerically simulated results. Since, internal radial clearance (IRC) is inevitably present in all class and types of bearing, in this paper it (IRC-C3) is considered as main source of nonlinearity with speed as control parameter. The complex mathematical model simulates no...

متن کاملDynamic Analysis of a Rotor Supported on Ball Bearings with Waviness and Centralizing Springs and Squeeze Film Dampers
Squeeze film dampers (SFDs) are often used in machines with high rotational speed to reduce non-periodic behavior by creating external damping. There are some structural parameters which are of great importance in designing these systems, such as oil film thickness and inner race mass of SFD. Moreover, there is a crucial parameter associated with manufacturing process, under the title of wavine...
متن کاملFurther Imbalance Response Measurements of Rotor Supported on Bump-Type Gas Foil Bearings: Operation to 50 krpm
A 2005 TRC report presents imbalance response measurements of a hollow test rotor supported on bump-type gas foil bearings. The top speed of the tests is 25 krpm, the limit of the drive router motor. The 2005 measurements show the gas foil bearings are prone to subsynchronous whirl with amplitudes of motion exacerbated by the imbalance condition of the rotor, i.e. a forced nonlinearity. Present...
