Abstract A homogeneous continuous viscoelastic beam, describing the dynamics of a base-isolated tower, exposed to uniformly distributed turbulent wind flow, is studied. The beam constrained at bottom end by nonlinear device, and it free top end. Aeroelastic forces are computed quasi-static theory. steady component responsible for Hopf bifurcation, induces parametric excitation. interaction between two bifurcations investigated. Critical post-critical behavior analyzed perturbation methods. mechanical performances structure discussed assess effectiveness isolation system.
