چکیده
This paper aims to guide structural engineers on how apply the rapid nonlinear time history analysis (RNLTHA) procedure effectively predict seismic demand, taking into account ductility and overstrength, effects of dynamic phenomena including cyclic degradation strength stiffness in structures, a direct expedient manner. The shortcoming conventional force-based approach design involving use force reduction factor for is well recognised. Nonlinear static (pushover) (NLTHA) are offered as alternative methods by major codes practices achieve better optimisation materials. NLTHA has advantages over pushover being more capable capturing response behaviour. Despite merits NLTHA, its adoption industry been limited, mainly because complexity higher cost involved. RNLTHA proposed this article uses macroscopic model building fulfil purpose whilst saving computational achieving good degree accuracy, verified comparison with results generated from SeismoStruct.

Utilising confinement reinforcement for shear resistance in reinforced concrete structures
Common transverse reinforcement of reinforced concrete members with circular cross-section consists of round ties or spirals. Its purpose in members that are not subjected to significant shear loading is to provide proper confinement for concrete, and eliminate buckling of the longitudinal reinforcement bars. If spirals are to be used as both shear enabler and confiner for reinforced concrete b...
متن کاملThe Effect of Axial Force Variations on Nonlinear Modeling and Seismic Response of Reinforced Concrete Structures
In order to increase the accuracy of evaluating seismic response of structures, it is critical to conduct dynamic analyses based upon precise nonlinear models being as consistent as possible with the real conditions of corresponding structures. The concentrated plasticity model including one elastic element and two nonlinear spring elements at both ends has been considered within the research c...
متن کاملA Macro-model for Nonlinear Analysis of 3D Reinforced Concrete Shear Walls
Architectural limitations in many situations make it necessary for the RC shear walls to be extended in plan in different directions at a single location that makes them a 3D configuration. Analysis of such walls is very challenging. In this research about 450 cases of 3D shear walls are considered with different shapes and heights. L, T and H-shape walls are studied. They are nonlinearly analy...
متن کاملNonlinear Models of Reinforced and Post-tensioned Concrete Beams
Commercial finite element software generally includes dedicated numerical models for the nonlinear response of concrete under loading. These models usually include a smeared crack analogy to account for the relatively poor tensile strength of concrete, a plasticity algorithm to facilitate concrete crushing in compression regions and a method of specifying the amount, the distribution and the or...
متن کاملAppropriate Models for Practical Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Frames
ABSTRACT: The object of this paper is to identify the optimal combination of hysteresis-model and damping parameters that lead to the best correlation between the calculated and measured seismic response. The combined effects of five parameters are investigated: initial stiffness, bond-slip deformations, post-yield stiffness, unloading stiffness, and type of damping. The first four of these par...
