Nonisothermal Crystallization Kinetics by DSC: Practical Overview
نویسندگان
چکیده
Providing a minimum of theory, this review focuses on practical aspects analyzing the kinetics nonisothermal crystallization as measured with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It is noted that kinetic analysis dominated by approaches based Avrami and Arrhenius equations. Crystallization should not be considered synonymous model, whose applications are subject to very restrictive assumptions. The equation can serve only narrow temperature range approximation actual bell-shaped dependence rate. Tests applicability both equations discussed. Most traditional methods tend offer unsophisticated treatments, limited either glass or melt crystallization. Differential flexible integral isoconversional applicable because they accurately approximate rate series equations, each which corresponds its own interval. resulting activation energy parameterized in terms Turnbull–Fisher Hoffman–Lauritzen theories, parameters obtained meaningfully interpreted used for simulations.

متن کاملCrystallization of Polymers Investigated by Temperature-Modulated DSC
The aim of this review is to summarize studies conducted by temperature-modulated differential scanning calorimetry (TMDSC) on polymer crystallization. This technique can provide several advantages for the analysis of polymers with respect to conventional differential scanning calorimetry. Crystallizations conducted by TMDSC in different experimental conditions are analysed and discussed, in or...
متن کاملKinetic Study on the Isothermal and Nonisothermal Crystallization of Monoglyceride Organogels
The isothermal and nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of monoglyceride (MAG) organogels were studied by pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance (pNMR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), respectively. The Avrami equation was used to describe the isothermal crystallization kinetics and experimental data fitted the equation fairly well. Results showed that the crystal growth of MAG organog...
متن کاملCrystallization Kinetics Study in Al87Ni10La3 Amorphous Alloy
In this study, the crystallization behavior of melt-spun Al87Ni10La3 amorphous phase was investigated by using X-ray diffraction and non-isothermal differential thermal analysis techniques. The results demonstrated that the amorphous phase exhibited two-stage crystallization on heating, i.e., at first step the amorphous phase transforms into α-Al phase and at second step Al11La3 and Al3Ni inter...
متن کاملA Review of DSC Kinetics Methods
Figure 1: Raw data with calculation Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) is used to measure heat flow into or out of a sample as it is exposed to a controlled thermal profile. DSC provides both qualitative and quantitative information about material transitions such as the glass transition, crystallization, curing, melting, and decomposition. For some of these transitions, DSC can provide no...
