Nonequilibrium stationary states of quantum non-Hermitian lattice models

چکیده

We show how generic non-Hermitian tight-binding lattice models can be realized in an unconditional, quantum-mechanically consistent manner by constructing appropriate open quantum system. focus on the steady states of such for both fermionic and bosonic systems. Surprisingly, key features spatial structures state cannot simply understood from Hamiltonian alone. Using 1D Hatano-Nelson model as a paradigmatic example, we that has marked sensitivity to boundary conditions. This dependence however is qualitatively quantitatively distinct skin effect, no simple connection topology. Further, particle statistics play unexpected role: steady-state density profile dramatically different fermions versus bosons. Our work highlights role fluctuations realizations dynamics, provides starting point future engineered

Nonequilibrium Stationary States (Deterministic)

Nonequilibrium stationary states (NESS) describe the state of a mechanical system driven and maintained out of equilibrium by external forces. The external forces can be mechanical or thermodynamical. Examples of mechanical forces are external non-Hamiltonian forces imposed on the system or boundary forcing for example in a shear flow. Thermodynamical forces occur when a system is coupled to se...

Coherent states of non-Hermitian quantum systems

We use the Gazeau-Klauder formalsim to construct coherent states of non-Hermitian quantum systems. In particular we use this formalism to construct coherent state of a PT symmetric system. We also describe the construction of coherent states following Klauder’s minimal prescription. e-mail : [email protected] e-mail : [email protected]

Nonequilibrium stationary states and equilibrium models with long range interactions

It was recently suggested by Blythe and Evans that a properly defined steady state normalization factor can be seen as a partition function of a fictitious statistical ensemble in which the transition rates of the stochastic process play the role of fugacities. In analogy with the Lee–Yang description of phase transition of equilibrium systems, they studied the zeros in the complex plane of the...

Bound States of Non-Hermitian Quantum Field Theories

The spectrum of the Hermitian Hamiltonian 1 2p 2 + 12m 2x2 + gx4 (g > 0), which describes the quantum anharmonic oscillator, is real and positive. The non-Hermitian quantum-mechanical Hamiltonian H = 1 2p 2 + 12m 2x2 − gx4, where the coupling constant g is real and positive, is PT -symmetric. As a consequence, the spectrum ofH is known to be real and positive as well. Here, it is shown that the...

Nonequilibrium stationary states with ratchet effect.

An ensemble of particles in thermal equilibrium at temperature T, modeled by Nosè-Hoover dynamics, moves on a triangular lattice of oriented semidisk elastic scatterers. Despite the scatterer asymmetry, a directed transport is clearly ruled out by the second law of thermodynamics. Introduction of a polarized zero mean monochromatic field creates a directed stationary flow with nontrivial depend...
