Linac-based Laser Compton Scattering X-ray and Gamma-ray Sources
Laser Compton scattering (LCS) light sources can provide high-energy photons from keV to MeV range. Many research and development projects of linac-based LCS sources are carried on. For the photon energies of tens keV, linac-based LCS sources realize laboratory-size X-ray sources, of which performance is potentially comparable to 2 generation synchrotron light sources. Linac-based LCS also real...
متن کاملNuclear Compton scattering in the ∆-resonance region with polarized photons
Nuclear Compton scattering in the ∆-resonance region is reconsidered within the framework of the ∆-hole model. The different role of the resonant and non-resonant contributions to the transition amplitudes is discussed and their effect is investigated by comparing the results of calculation with recent data also taken with polarized photons. متن کاملFormation interface detection using Gamma Ray log: A novel approach
There are two methods for identifying formation interface in oil wells: core analysis, which is a precise approach but costly and time consuming, and well logs analysis, which petrophysists perform, which is subjective and not completely reliable. In this paper, a novel coupled method was proposed to detect the formation interfaces using GR logs. Second approximation level (a2) of GR log gained...
متن کاملHalf-life measurements of neutron-deficient isotopes using laser Compton scattering Gamma-rays at NewSUBARU
We measure half-lives of the ground state of 184Re and an isomer in 164Ho, which are populated by (γ ,n) reactions with laser Compton scattering (LCS) γ-ray source at NewSUBARU. These neutron-deficient isotopes are located on nucleosynthesis flows of the supernova γ process. The measured half-life of 35.4 ± 0.3 d for 184Re is shorter than the previous half-life of T1/2 = 38.0 ± 0.5 by about 7%....
متن کاملNondestructive Elemental Analysis of Wood Biodeterioration Using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and Synchrotrons X-ray Fluorescence
Over the last few years we have developed nondestructive methods for the elemental analysis of wood during biodeterioration by fungi. In this paper we review progress made in our laboratories on the multi-element analysis of wood using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy and synchrotron-generated X-ray spectroscopy. The non-intrusive sample preparation and the nondestructive methods ha...
