Non-Standard Errors

چکیده
In statistics, samples are drawn from a population in data-generating process (DGP). Standard errors measure the uncertainty sample estimates of parameters. science, evidence is generated to test hypotheses an evidence-generating (EGP). We claim that EGP variation across researchers adds uncertainty: non-standard errors. To study them, we let 164 teams six on same sample. find sizeable, par with standard Their size (i) co-varies only weakly team merits, reproducibility, or peer rating, (ii) declines significantly after peer-feedback, and (iii) underestimated by participants.

Non-Parametric Standard Errors and Tests for Network Statistics
Two procedures are proposed for calculating standard errors for network statistics. Both are based on resampling of vertices: the first follows the bootstrap approach, the second the jackknife approach. In addition, we demonstrate how to use these estimated standard errors to compare statistics using an approximate t-test and how statistics can also be compared by another bootstrap approach tha...
متن کاملA Appendix: Standard Errors
There are several issues concerning computing standard errors for the pooled specification in equation (2). First, insofar as there is heterogeneity in the displaced worker earnings losses, then we expect there to be serial correlation in the standard errors at the individual level. This concern arises even in specification (1). We address this concern by clustering at the person level. Second,...

In a previous study (1998), how to evaluate whether adaptive testing data used for online calibration sufficiently fit the item response model used by C. Glas was studied. Three approaches were suggested, based on a Lagrange multiplier (LM) statistic, a Wald statistic, and a cumulative sum (CUMSUM) statistic respectively. For all these methods, the asymptotic variance of the parameter estimates...

When a researcher estimates the parameters of a regression function using information on all 50 states in the United States, or information on all visits to a website, what is the interpretation of the standard errors? Researchers typically report standard errors that are designed to capture sampling variation, based on viewing the data as a random sample drawn from a large population of intere...
متن کاملStandard errors for regression on relational data with exchangeable errors
Relational arrays represent interactions or associations between pairs of actors, often over time or in varied contexts. We focus on the case where the elements of a relational array are modeled as a linear function of observable covariates. Due to the inherent dependencies among relations involving the same individual, standard regression methods for quantifying uncertainty in the regression c...
