Fully non linear equations with integral diffusions
The authors establish weighted decay rates for the energy associated with the Cauchy problem { utt − div(b(x)∇u) + a(x)ut = 0, x ∈ R, t > 0 u(0, x) = u0(x), ut(0, x) = u1(x), x ∈ R. Such a system appears in models for traveling waves in a non-homogeneous gas with damping that changes with the position. This problem has been studied intensively for the homogeneous medium (when b is constant), bu...
متن کاملRelativistic diffusions: a unifying approach
A new, wide class of relativistic stochastic processes is introduced. All relativistic processes considered so far in the literature are members of this class. For each process, the stochastic equations of motion are obtained in an arbitrary Lorentz frame. The associated Kolmogorov equation is also derived for the first time, in both (3 + 1)and manifestly covariant forms.
متن کاملOn Relativistic Non-linear Quantum Mechanics
The possibility that quantum mechanics itself could be non-linear has run up against difficulties with relativistic covariance. Most of the schemes proposed up to now engender superluminal communication, and those that don’t, have been equivalent to linear theories. We show in a simplified model that a proposal based on the consistent histories approach to quantum mechanics avoids the usual dif...
متن کاملNon-linear Evolution of Rotating Relativistic Stars
We present first results of the non-linear evolution of rotating relativistic stars obtained with an axisymmetric relativistic hydrodynamics code in a fixed spacetime. As initial data we use stationary axisymmetric and perturbed configurations. We find that, in order to prevent (numerical) angular momentum loss at the surface layers of the star a high-resolution grid (or a numerical scheme that...
متن کاملNon-Linear Derivative Interactions in Relativistic Hadrodynamics
The Lagrangian density of Relativistic Hadrodynamics (RHD) is extended by introducing non-linear derivative (NLD) interactions of the nucleon with the meson fields. As a consequence, the nucleon selfenergy becomes both momentum and density dependent. With a single cut-off parameter, which regulates the NLD Lagrangian, our approach is compatible with results from microscopic nuclear matter calcu...
