Non-Fermenting Gram-Negative Isolates as Infecting Agents and Antibiotic Resistance: Three-Year Data

چکیده
Objective: This study aimed to investigate clinical non-fermenting gram-negative isolates and antibiotic resistance profiles for three years in a tertiary hospital.Materials Methods: A total of 3817 strains isolated from various cultures between January 2017 December 2019 Balıkesir Atatürk City Hospital were investigated retrospectively. Identification susceptibilities performed using conventional methods PhoenixTM 100 system (Becton Dickinson, MA, USA).Results: 2201 (57.7%) P. aeruginosa, 1283 (33.6%) A. baumannii-calcoaceticus complex, 202 (5.3%) S. maltophilia 131 (3.4%) B. cepacia complex identified. The majority intensive care units (54.5%), followed by internal medicine (33.4%) surgical services (12.1%). All species showed over 70% most antibiotics. In addition β-lactam (generally 30%), fluoroquinolones (30.4%) seemed have particular importance. Co-trimoxazole below 10% isolates. ceftazidime increased (2018, 22.2%; 2019, 67.0%). Conclusion: issue cannot be won just developing novel antimicrobials, but also increasing the efficiency current ones. first step is “diagnose” condition, like local surveillance studies.

Clinical Distribution and Antibiotic Resistance Pattern of Non- Fermenting Gram Negative Bacilli
Nonfermenting Gram negative bacilli (NFGNB) emerged as important nosocomial pathogen causing opportunistic infections. Aim of the study is to detect the clinical distribution and antibiotic resistant pattern of nonfermenting Gram negative bacilli isolated from the clinical samples and to detect Mettalobeta lactamase production by multidrug resistant isolates. A total of 6284 clinical samples we...
متن کاملAntibiotic Resistance Pattern of Gram-Negative Bacteria in Gorgan
Abstract Background and Objective: The excessive use of broad-spectrum antibiotics will lead to drug resistance of microorganism and specially nosocomial organisms. Because of high incidence of antibiotic resistance in hospitals, we aimed to study antibiotic resistance to gram negative bacteria. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on the data of biological sampl...
متن کاملAntimicrobial resistance among non-fermenting Gram-negative bacteria in Saudi Arabia.
OBJECTIVES Non-fermentative Gram-negative bacilli (non-fermenters) can cause serious healthcare-associated infections and are often resistant to multiple antibiotics. We examined resistance rates among these bacteria from different regions of Saudi Arabia. METHODS A cross-sectional study between January and December 2009 examined 8908 clinical non-fermenters from 24 hospitals across Saudi Ara...
متن کاملCharacterization, Prevalence and Antibiotic Resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii Infecting Foodstuff
Background: Acinetobacter baumannii is a highly virulent bacterium. It causes opportunistic and nosocomial infections and is a threat to healthcare settings. It has also developed multidrug resistance (MDR) capacity. The nosocomial bacteria and antibiotic resistance are primordial and a significant public health concern. These bacteria and their threat can be prevented by reducing infected food...
متن کاملMotuporamine Derivatives as Antimicrobial Agents and Antibiotic Enhancers against Resistant Gram‐Negative Bacteria
Dihydromotuporamine C and its derivatives were evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activities and antibiotic enhancement properties against Gram-negative bacteria and clinical isolates. The mechanism of action of one of these derivatives, MOTU-N44, was investigated against Enterobacter aerogenes by using fluorescent dyes to evaluate outer-membrane depolarization and permeabilization. Its...
