Nitrosporin, Antibiotic from Streptomyces Nitrosporus Active to Gram Positive By
Many antibiotics have been obtained from streptomyces, yet, numerous antibiotics effective only to Gram-positive bacteria seem to have been left without sufficient study. A strain which was isolated from the garden soil collected at Meguro, Tokyo, in summer 1947, and produced an antibiotic to Gram-positive bacteria, was found to be particular among antibiotic streptomyces in its morphological a...
متن کاملOM-704 A, a new antibiotic active against gram-positive bacteria produced by Streptomyces sp.
In the course of screening for antibacterial antibiotics from actinomycetes, a new antibiotic, OM704 A, has been isolated from the culture broth of strain OM-704, a soil isolate identified as Streptomyces sp. This antibiotic was active against Gram-positive bacteria. The present paper deals with the taxonomy of strain OM-704 and the fermentation, isolation and biological and physicochemical pro...
متن کاملAntibiotic Resistance and Biofilm Production in Catalase-Positive Gram-Positive Cocci Isolated from Brazilian Pasteurized Milk
Background: Milk is a reservoir for several groups of microorganisms, which may pose health risks. The aim of this work was to assess the antibiotic resistance and biofilm production in catalase-positive Gram-positive cocci isolated from Brazilian pasteurized milk. Methods: The bacteria were isolated using Baird-Parker agar and identified by Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization-Time-Of-...
متن کاملAntagonistic activity of Streptomyces gresiofuscus PTCC1628 against isolated Gram negative bacteria from Urinary Tract Infections
Antibiotics are the best known products of actinomycete. Over 5,000 antibiotics have been identified from the cultures of Gram positive and Gram-negative organisms, and filamentous fungi, but only about 100 antibiotics have commercially been used to treat human, animal and plant diseases. The genus, Streptomycete, is responsible for the formation of more than 60% of known antibiotics. Bacteri...
متن کاملMethods for distinguishing gram-positive from gram-negative bacteria.
Lysis by KOH and hydrolysis of L-alanine-4-nitroanilide were compared with the Gram reaction of aerobic, microaerophilic, and anaerobic bacteria. Both tests correlated well with the Gram reaction with nonfermentative bacilli and Bacillus species, whereas they did not correlate with nonsporulating anaerobes. Only campylobacteria were KOH positive and L-alanine-4-nitroanilide and gram negative.
