Nitrogen Use Efficiency Regulates Drought Stress in Pearl Millet Genotypes: Morpho-Physiological Evaluation

چکیده

In this paper, the author discusses effects of drought stress on pearl millet genotypes during vegetative stage development and plant’s mechanisms for survivability under with various nitrogen treatment regimes. A total six conditions were imposed plants, i.e., N0 (no Nitrogen-0 mM), N0+PEG-10%, LN (low Nitrogen-2.5 LN+PEG-10%, HN (high Nitrogen-7.0 HN+PEG-10%. Five days moderate caused significant morphophysiological changes, as evidenced by a reduction in fresh dry biomass, well relative water content (RWC), electrolyte leakage, chlorophyll fluorescence,. plant biomass RWC when compared to controls was seen. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) lipid peroxidation (MDA) levels increased shoot response along loss membrane integrity. regime regulated stress. relation N0-treated batches, proline accumulation N-treated batches. Results revealed that GHB-538 is less tolerant different N conditions, while RHB-234 223 showed better tolerance treatments. The significance study uncover regulatory role over millet.

Use of Physiological Parameters for Screening Drought Tolerant Barley Genotypes

With the aim of understanding and identifying the traits which can be used as the suitable criteria for quick screening of the water deficit tolerant barley genotypes, an experiment based on randomized complete blocks design with three replications was conducted during two years to evaluate the biochemical responses of 20 barley genotypes to full irrigation and terminal water stress in the fie...

II.1.5 Phenotyping pearl millet for adaptation to drought

Pearl millet is highly resilient to some of the driest areas of the world, like the Sahel area or fringes of the Thar desert in India. Despite this, there is a wealth of variation in pearl millet genotypes for their adaptation to drought and the object of this paper was to review some related work in the past 25 years to harness these capacities toward the breeding of better adapted cultivars. ...
