Nitrogen Uptake Efficiency of Olive Cultivars

چکیده

Maximizing nitrogen uptake efficiency is a sustainable objective to reduce the amount of fertilizers applied in olive orchards. Many factors affect this parameter, but nothing known about whether there are differences among cultivars related olive, and if interactions with soil type. To clarify these questions, two groups experiments were conducted. In first group, four carried out which 20 compared. second three study interaction type soil. all experiments, mist-rooted cuttings growing 1.1 L pots containing mixture sand peat (2:1 by volume). Depending on experiment, plants placed shadehouse or growth chambers at 25/15 °C (day/night) 14 h photoperiod 70% humidity. Plants received weekly applications 100 ppm N throughout irrigation water, alternating one 150 mL tap water. Some each cultivar did not receive served as control for NUE calculation. A nutrient solution without was every weeks prevent nutritional deficiencies. Results indicated that nitrogen. The Spanish ‘Picual’, ‘Arbequina’ ‘Manzanilla de Sevilla’, together Greek ‘Koroneiki’ Italian ‘Frantoio’, high work. Soil NUE, no between observed.

Study of genetic diversity in bread wheat germplasm using nitrogen uptake and nitrogen use efficiency characteristics

In order to evaluate the traits related to nitrogen utilization and to identify the superior genotypes, 33 bread wheat landraces along three check cultivars of Chamran and Koohdasht (from Iran) and Gobustan (from the Republic of Azerbaijan) were studied in simple lattice statistical design with two replications under two treatments of non-usage and application of 200 kg/ha ammonium nitrate fert...

Contribution of Nitrogen Uptake and Retranslocation during Reproductive Growth to the Nitrogen Efficiency of Winter Oilseed-Rape Cultivars (Brassica napus L.) Differing in Leaf Senescence

Genotypic variation in N efficiency defined as high grain yield under limited nitrogen (N) supply of winter oilseed-rape line-cultivars has been predominantly attributed to N uptake efficiency (NUPT) through maintained N uptake during reproductive growth related to functional stay-green. For investigating the role of stay-green, N retranslocation and N uptake during the reproductive phase for g...

Soil temperature, nitrogen concentration, and residence time affect nitrogen uptake efficiency in citrus.

We try to elucidate which environmental and soil factors control nitrogen uptake efficiency in citrus. Effects of residence time and nitrogen (N) concentration (three 500-mL applications of 7 mg N L(-1), representative of reclaimed water used for citrus irrigation in central Florida, or one 150-mL application of 70 mg N L(-1)) on nitrogen uptake efficiency (NUE) of young citrus seedlings were s...

Responses of rice cultivars with different nitrogen use efficiency to partial nitrate nutrition.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS There is increased evidence that partial nitrate (NO3-) nutrition (PNN) improves growth of rice (Oryza sativa), although the crop prefers ammonium (NH4+) to NO3- nutrition. It is not known whether the response to NO3- supply is related to nitrogen (N) use efficiency (NUE) in rice cultivars. Methods Solution culture experiments were carried out to study the response of two ri...

Reduction of olive fly, Bactrocera oleae (Rossi, 1790), damage by selecting native and exotic olive cultivars

Olive fly is the most dangerous pest in olive groves worldwide. Therefore the study of the most susceptible and resistant cultivars to olive fly can bring new information to diminish the olive flies harmful impacts. The main goal of the present study is to verify the olfactory response of olive fly to olive volatiles from five native Iranian cultivars (Fishomi, Mari, Rowghani, Shengeh, and Zard...
