چکیده

Abstract The distribution of nitrogen between the different terrestrial reservoirs (core-mantle-atmosphere) and how this may have changed since earliest planetary stages is uncertain. In particular, primordial degassing processes magma ocean its role in formation atmosphere remains to be quantified. Since no geological samples can capture early process, we need go through thermodynamic modeling solubility silicate melt. We hence performed experiments on basaltic at fluid saturation C-H-O-N system, using an Internally Heated Pressure Vessel (IHPV) Piston Cylinder (PC) pressure range 0.8 kbar 10 kbar, temperature 1200 1300 °C, a wide fO2 conditions from IW + 4.9 IW-4.7 (IW standing for Iron-Wustite redox buffer). concentration quenched melts was analysed by secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), speciation dissolved C-O-H species determined Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). identified two melt: N2 dominating fO2 > IW N3? lower fO2. Using these data database constraining 1 bar 10 kbar pressure, calibrated law basalts defining P-T-fO2 dependences. This model expands Libourel et al. (2003) high higher activities. It used investigate relevant accretion modern volcanism.

Controls on the solubility of rhenium in silicate melt: Implications for the osmium isotopic composition of Earth’s mantle

The solubility of Re and Au in haplobasaltic melt has been investigated at 1673–2573 K, 0.1 MPa–2 GPa and IW 1 to þ2.5, in both carbon-saturated and carbon-free systems. Results extend the existing, low pressure and temperature, dataset to more accurately predict the results of metal-silicate equilibrium at the base of a terrestrial magma ocean. Solubilities in run-product glasses were measured...

Silicate Melt Properties and Volcanic Eruptions

[1] Knowledge about the properties of silicate melts is needed by volcanologists and petrologists to evaluate the dynamics of volcanic eruptions and magmatic processes. These properties include the solubility and diffusivity of volatile components in silicate melts, silicate melt viscosity, and the fragmentation condition. Data and models of each property are reviewed and assessed. For rhyoliti...

Influence of degassing on hot-melt extrusion process.

The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of degassing on an extrusion process, with respect to extrudate quality and drug release properties. Processed formulations were extruded with and without a degassing vent port at various locations along the barrel. All the experiments were performed under constant processing temperature, feeding rate, and screw speed. During the extrusion process,...

Observed enrichments of N (and the δ15N of this N) in volcanic glasses altered on Earth's modern and ancient seafloor are relevant in considerations of modern global N subduction fluxes and ancient life on Earth, and similarly altered glasses on Mars and other extraterrestrial bodies could serve as valuable tracers of biogeochemical processes. Palagonitized glasses and whole-rock samples of vol...

Solubility and Structure of Calcium Silicate Hydrate

A poorly crystalline class of calcium silicate hydrates known as C–S–H possesses extensive disorder and structural variations at the nanometer scale. The extent of these variations has generally obscured a comprehensive understanding of the C–S–H nanostructure, but new relationships between solubility and structure appear to shed new light on this old problem. These relationships were inspired ...
