Nitrogen addition alters composition, diversity, and functioning of microbial communities in mangrove soils: An incubation experiment

چکیده
Mangrove ecosystems are important for carbon storage due to their high productivity and low decomposition rates. Waterways have experienced increased nutrient loads as a result of anthropogenic activities it is unclear how this may affect cycles in downstream mangroves that receive these nutrient-rich waters. Using laboratory-based incubation experiment, study aimed assess the effects addition on diversity structure mangrove soil bacterial communities, well biomass activity microbial community, under different oxygen conditions. Bacterial community composition was characterised using 16S rRNA gene sequencing examined through measurement respiration enzymes associated with organic matter decomposition. Nitrogen caused clear shifts composition, decreases abundance sulfate-reducing bacteria. Microbial also decreased nitrogen reduced incubations. Changes were accompanied by changes some involved carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus cycling. Under conditions, resulted significant increase metabolic quotient but no accompanying change respiration, which explained decrease biomass. The findings indicate loading has potential implications communities cycling environments warrant further investigation field • changed diversity. addition. Activity

Invasion by Cordgrass Increases Microbial Diversity and Alters Community Composition in a Mangrove Nature Reserve
Invasion by exotic plant species can alter ecosystem function and reduce native plant diversity, but relatively little is known about their effects on belowground microbial communities. Here we investigated the effects of exotic cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora) invasion on the distribution of soil bacterial communities in a mangrove nature reserve of the Jiulong River Estuary, southeast China ...
متن کاملInorganic phosphorus and nitrogen modify composition and diversity of microbial communities in water of mesotrophic lake.
The effects of inorganic nutrients (N, P) enrichment of mesotrophic lake water on changes in bacterial and protistan (heterotrophic nanoflagellates and ciliates) communities compositions were studied in the mesocosm experiment. Phosphorus (PO4(3-)) and nitrogen (NH4+) alone and in combination were added to three types of experimental mesocosms. Mesocosms results suggested that simultaneous addi...
متن کاملLand use change alters functional gene diversity, composition and abundance in Amazon forest soil microbial communities.
Land use change in the Amazon rainforest alters the taxonomic structure of soil microbial communities, but whether it alters their functional gene composition is unknown. We used the highly parallel microarray technology GeoChip 4.0, which contains 83,992 probes specific for genes linked nutrient cycling and other processes, to evaluate how the diversity, abundance and similarity of the targete...
متن کاملSoil Mineral Composition Matters: Response of Microbial Communities to Phenanthrene and Plant Litter Addition in Long-Term Matured Artificial Soils
The fate of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in soil is determined by a suite of biotic and abiotic factors, and disentangling their role in the complex soil interaction network remains challenging. Here, we investigate the influence of soil composition on the microbial community structure and its response to the spiked model PAH compound phenanthrene and plant litter. We used long-term ...
متن کاملStarting study of microbial genetics diversity in soils of mangrove preserved in sergipe
Tropical mangroves are considered one of the most productive ecosystems in the world, characterized by high rate of cycling of organic matter and nutrients that occurs between the oceans and terrestrial environments. This paper proposes the characterization and evaluation of structures and diversity of microbial communities in the soil of mangroves in three conservation areas located in Sergipe...
