NITRIFYING AND PATHOGENIC BACTERIAL FLUCTUATION DURING NITROGEN REMOVAL FROM WASTEWATER IN ZAKHO CITY/IRAQ

چکیده

The high concentration of nitrogen (N) compounds in wastewater was found to be creating a reason eutrophication, effect the biodiversity aquatic ecosystems and human health. aim this study is reduce harmful N forms from by biological transforming (BNT) bacteria investigate fluctuation ammonium oxidizing (AOB), nitrite (NOB), pathogenic during process, so compost representative. A sample municipal taken, then subjected treatment process BNT, which subdivided into three stages ammonification, nitrification, denitrification. result revealed that nitrifying were flocculated transformation, like AOB NOB isolated until obtaining colonies nitrification liquid mineral solution Agar-Agar calculated. count 468 CFU/ml 2130 sample. existence coliform bacteria, especially E. coli raises possibility water contamination pathogens cause many serious illnesses human. Therefore, Mac-Conkey agar used for isolation total through BNT because it selective also differentiating specialized growth gram- negative bacteria. Total decreased gradually, before ammonification (556 CFU/ml), after (226 (154 CFU/ml) denitrification (45 have been determined indicated further chemical disinfection chlorination or ozonation required complete sterilization concluded all ecosystem deleterious reduced BNT.

Effects of aeration cycles on nitrifying bacterial populations and nitrogen removal in intermittently aerated reactors.

The effects of the lengths of aeration and nonaeration periods on nitrogen removal and the nitrifying bacterial community structure were assessed in intermittently aerated (IA) reactors treating digested swine wastewater. Five IA reactors were operated in parallel with different aeration-to-nonaeration time ratios (ANA). Populations of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and nitrite-oxidizing bact...

Biological Removal of phosphate from Synthetic Wastewater Using Bacterial Consortium

The biological phosphorus removal is a microbial process widely used for removing phosphorus fromwastewater to avoid eutrophication of water bodies. The study was aimed to screen the efficient phosphatereducing isolates and used to remove phosphate from synthetic wastewater using batch scale process. Thethree most efficient phosphate reducers were isolated and screened from eu...

Simulation of organics and nitrogen removal from wastewater inconstructed wetland

Modelling wastewater treatment processes is an effective tool for prediction and analysis of treatment system performance. In this study, removal of organics and nitrogen compounds of municipal wastewater is simulated in a constructed wetland based on system dynamic approach using Stella software. In the developed model, organics are represented by BOD and nitrogen compounds including nitrate, ...

Nitrogen removal from industrial wastewater by hybrid constructed wetland systems

The efficiency in nitrogen removal from wastewater generated at CSBP Ltd fertiliser and chemical manufacturer by two hybrid constructed wetland mesocosms was compared. The mesocosms were set up in order to help clarify the reasons why the two year old constructed wetland located at the industrial facility, a 1.2 ha free water surface/vertical flow conjugated system, has performed under the 50% ...
