New Seismoacoustic Data on Shallow Gas in Holocene Marine Shelf Sediments, Offshore from the Cilento Promontory (Southern Tyrrhenian Sea, Italy)

High-resolution seismoacoustic data represent a useful tool for the investigations of gas-charged sediments occurring beneath seabed through identification diagnostic intrasedimentary features associated with them. Acoustic blanking revealed shallow gas pockets in seismostratigraphic units inner shelf off Northern Cilento promontory. Six main were recognized based on geological interpretation seismic profiles. Large pockets, reaching lateral extension 1 km, are concentrated at depocenter Late Pleistocene–Holocene marine that limited northwards by Solofrone River mouth and southwards Licosa Cape A morphobathymetric interpretation, reported GIS environment, was constructed order to show morphological lineaments link them acoustic anomalies interpreted Sub-bottom chirp newly workflow assessed perform elaboration Seismic Unix software comparing improving previously processed profiles used Seisprho software.
