New Results for the CZT Drift
The drift strip method for improving the energy response of a CdZnTe (CZT) detector to hard X and gamma rays is discussed. Results for a 10x10x3 mm3 detector crystal demonstrate a remarkable improvement of the energy resolution. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) is 2.18 keV (3.6%), 2.45 keV (3.0%), 2.86 keV (0.8%) and 3.89 keV (0.6%) at 60 keV, 80 keV, 356 keV and 661 keV, respectively. The...
متن کاملEstimate of Large CZT Detector Absolute Efficiency
This paper presents a simulation of the spectroscopic performance of two large CZT coplanar detectors, 1.5 1.5 cm area and 1.0 cm thick, with coplanar anodes. A code, based on the GEANT libraries and classical Monte Carlo sampling, was developed to simulate experimental scenarios. This code adapts the GEANT capabilities for simulating complex detection systems for spectroscopic studies. Detecto...
متن کاملNew Algorithms for Position Heaps
We present several results about position heaps, a relatively new alternative to suffix trees and suffix arrays. First, we show that, if we limit the maximum length of patterns to be sought, then we can also limit the height of the heap and reduce the worst-case cost of insertions and deletions. Second, we show how to build a position heap in linear time independent of the size of the alphabet....
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of a New CZT Detector for Nuclear Medicine: SOLSTICE
Solstice is a new concept of gamma camera designed to use the better energy resolution typically available in solid-state detectors. To that purpose, an array of 88 Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CdZnTe or CZT) crystals was characterized for gamma ray detection performance. The bias voltage was applied to the single electrode cathode side of the crystal (radiation side). The anode side of the individu...
متن کاملThe Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT) Detector Array Innovation Pathway
This pathway describes the development of soft gamma-ray/hard x-ray detector arrays at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC, or Goddard), through a collaboration between the gamma-ray spectroscopy group and the detector branch. The Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CdZnTe, or CZT) detectors which resulted from this decade-long development were first flown on the wildly successful SWIFT mission in 200...
