New Maps of Global Geological Provinces and Tectonic Plates

چکیده
Accurate spatial models of tectonic plates and geological terranes are important for analyzing interpreting a wide variety geoscientific data developing compositional physical the lithosphere. We present global compilation active plate boundaries provinces in shapefile format with interpretive attributes (e.g., crust type, province last orogeny). The initial constructed from combination published regional that we refine using constraints including, but not limited to, relative GPS motions, earthquakes, mapped faults, potential field characteristics, geochronology. These new model show improved correlation to observed earthquake volcano occurrences within deformation zones microplates, compared existing models, capturing 73 80% these criteria, respectively. Deformation microplates only account 16% Earth's surface area. estimate 57.5% is covered by oceanic crust, which slight increase most recent seafloor age model. orogenies agrees well peaks globally summed geochronology data. There room improvement future editions our geologic where basins, ice, or lack fidelity obscure bedrock geology, particularly eastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt, much Africa, East Antarctica, Australia. Additionally, some types—orogens, shields, cratons homogenized scheme—can likely be partitioned into smaller more precise geodynamic attributes. Despite shortcomings, digital maps presented here form self-consistent standard adding metadata databases. database available on GitHub geoscience community can provide updates improve their contemporaneity as knowledge acquired. files also released formats suitable use Generic Mapping Tools GoogleEarth.

Geological Background: A Tectonic Panorama of Brazil
The landforms and landscapes discussed in this book developed in a variety of terrains, which together express the diversity of the geological background of the Brazilian territory. Located essentially in the old and relatively stable nucleus of the South American plate (known as the South American platform), Brazil comprises seven major categories of tectonic units, which are as follows: crato...
متن کاملPlate tectonic reconstructions with continuously closing plates
We present a new algorithm for modeling a self-consistent set of global plate polygons. Each plate polygon is composed of a finite list of plate margins, all with different Euler poles. We introduce a "Continuously Closed Plate" (CCP), such that, as each margin moves independently, the plate polygon remains closed geometrically as a function of time. This method solves emerging needs in computa...
متن کاملon the comparison of keyword and semantic-context methods of learning new vocabulary meaning
the rationale behind the present study is that particular learning strategies produce more effective results when applied together. the present study tried to investigate the efficiency of the semantic-context strategy alone with a technique called, keyword method. to clarify the point, the current study seeked to find answer to the following question: are the keyword and semantic-context metho...

In response to a rapidly changing healthcare marketplace, a variety of new business models have arisen, including new specialties (hospitalists), selective care (concierge medicine), and joint ventures (ambulatory surgical centers, specialty hospitals), some with hospitals and others with independent vendors. Since both hospitals and physicians are feeling the squeeze of rising expenses, burden...
متن کاملGlobal geological map of Venus
The surface area of Venus ( 460 10 km) is 90% of that of the Earth. Using Magellan radar image and altimetry data, supplemented by Venera-15/16 radar images, we compiled a global geologic map of Venus at a scale of 1:10 M. We outline the history of geological mapping of the Earth and planets to illustrate the importance of utilizing the dual stratigraphic classification approach to geological m...
