New Insights into the Drill Cutting Characteristics and Fault Distribution in Gas-Containing Coal Seams

This study is aimed at detecting small faults in coal seams. With seams of different buried depths Luling Coal Mine, Yuenan and Sihe Mine with obvious difference hardness outburst hazards selected as the research objects, morphological characteristics a sample particle size such Rosin-Rammler distribution function, average size, cumulative mass distribution, mechanical parameters strength F value were statistically analyzed through drill cuttings related to sampling points positions already known. The results show that effect tectonic stress reduces permeability after borehole enters fault damage zone, resulting abnormal fluctuations cuttings. Correspondingly, large-size particles account for high percentage. weight analysis discloses characteristic function has greatest influence on determination existence. cutting conduces faults, helps improve utilization mine information, great significance accident prevention control.
