New chromosomal data of the genus Dianthus section Dentati (Caryophyllaceae, Sileneae)

In section Dentati, the chromosome numbers were reported from only eight of 30 taxa. There is no chromosomal record relating to other 22 present study, it intended detect Dentati Chromosome 15 taxa obtained, 13 which for first time and two agreed with previous reports. 14 diploid 2x = one taxon was polyploid 4x 60. Polyploidy might have played a role in karyotype evolution genus. Although polyploidy seen, there dysploidy causing change basic number. According all data on Dianthus, number (x 15). conclusion, this study presents new into karyological characteristics (genus Dianthus) that may be useful understanding or interpreting relationships among sections.
