New Capital Relocation of Indonesia: Estimating Food Demand in East Kalimantan and Jakarta

This research examines the current state of food demand and its influencing factors in East Kalimantan Jakarta, considering relocation Indonesia’s capital city. Using Quadratic Almost Ideal Demand System (QUAIDS) method 2021 Susenas data, we have analyzed impact variations prices, income, demographic variables on seven categories—rice, grains, tubers, legumes, animal protein, fruit & vegetables, prepared food. Our findings reveal that increased income increases for protein vegetables but decreases Jakarta. In both regions, as expenditure increases, rice consumption while increases. An increase 1% prices will reduce by approximately 0.334-0.487% 0.126-0.202% Households consume more when other items increase. go up. Demographic play a crucial role determining demand. For example, public sector employees less food, they prefer rice.
