چکیده

Purpose: Understanding the neural mechanisms of recovery motor control and development spasticity after stroke is paramount importance for neurorehabilitation. Methods: For this purpose, we have analyzed several TMS EEG variables their association with spasticity. Forty-two subjects taken part in investigation. The neurophysiological examination included assessments by transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), intra- inter-hemispheric coherence different frequency bands (e.g. Theta (4.0–7.99 Hz)) as determined quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG). Motor function has been measured Fugl-Meyer (FM), modified Ashworth scale. Multiple univariate multivariate linear regression analyses performed to identify predictors spasticity. Results: Univariate shown a significant interaction amplitude threshold (MT) injured MT, central conduction time uninjured hemisphere according Fugle-Meyer (FM). Also between MT spasticity.Multivariate beta injured, interhemispheric prediction FM. hemisphere, delta theta C3-C4 shown. These suggests that higher activity lesioned strengthens FM scores. Higher scores. Conclusions: Our results suggest both hemispheres strongest stroke. Moreover, cortical qEEG provides additional information, specifying low-frequency are stroke. Thus, combination predicting opportunities study nonlinear relationships influencing networks, release subcortical

Spasticity, Motor Recovery, and Neural Plasticity after Stroke

Spasticity and weakness (spastic paresis) are the primary motor impairments after stroke and impose significant challenges for treatment and patient care. Spasticity emerges and disappears in the course of complete motor recovery. Spasticity and motor recovery are both related to neural plasticity after stroke. However, the relation between the two remains poorly understood among clinicians and...

Prognostic value of motor evoked potentials in motor function recovery of upper limb after stroke.

OBJECTIVE To determine the prognostic value of clinical assessment and motor evoked potentials for upper limb strength and functional recovery after acute stroke, and to establish the possible use of motor evoked potentials in rehabilitation. DESIGN A prospective study. SUBJECTS Fifty-two patients with hemiparesis were enrolled one month post-stroke; 38 patients concluded the study at 12 mo...

Predictors of Spasticity After Stroke

PURPOSE OF REVIEW Spasticity is a part of the upper motor neuron syndrome and can result in reduced function. Reduction of the complications may be facilitated by early intervention, making identification of stroke patients at high risk for developing spasticity essential. RECENT FINDING Different predictors of poststroke spasticity (PSS) have been suggested in different studies, including de...

Motor evoked potentials: prognostic value in motor recovery after stroke.

Accurate motor and functional prognosis after stroke is important for the optimal planning of a personalised rehabilitation programme, and clinical, demographic and radiological data are commonly employed for this purpose. It is becoming increasingly apparent that motor evoked potentials (MEPs), obtained through transcranial magnetic stimulation, can furnish complementary prognostic information...

Recovery of motor function after stroke.

The human brain possesses a remarkable ability to adapt in response to changing anatomical (e.g., aging) or environmental modifications. This form of neuroplasticity is important at all stages of life but is critical in neurological disorders such as amblyopia and stroke. This review focuses upon our new understanding of possible mechanisms underlying functional deficits evidenced after adult-o...
