Neurofibromatosis Clinical Trials—REiNS Collaboration 2020 Recommendations

چکیده
Neurofibromatosis (NF) type 1 (NF1), NF 2 (NF2), and schwannomatosis are genetic tumor predisposition syndromes with a wide variety of clinical manifestations. Effective medical treatments for these conditions remain limited. Since its founding in 2011, the Response Evaluation Schwannomatosis (REiNS) International Collaboration has worked to develop standardized, practical, clinically meaningful outcome measures trials conditions. Two previous supplements published Neurology ® 20131 20162 set forth recommendations that summarized table.

Consensus recommendations to accelerate clinical trials for neurofibromatosis type 2.
PURPOSE Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder associated primarily with bilateral schwannomas seen on the superior vestibular branches of the eighth cranial nerves. Significant morbidity can result from surgical treatment of these tumors. Meningiomas, ependymomas, and other benign central nervous system tumors are also common in NF2. The lack of effective treatmen...

Neurofibromatosis type 1 and type 2, affecting both children and adults, often results in devastating complications. The rapid unravelling of the genetic underpinnings of these unique disorders has led to the development of novel therapies, especially molecular-targeted therapies. To facilitate clinical trial development, the Neurofibromatosis Clinical Trial Consortium (NFCTC) was established i...

متن کاملConsensus recommendations for current treatments and accelerating clinical trials for patients with neurofibromatosis type 2.
Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is a tumor suppressor syndrome characterized by bilateral vestibular schwannomas (VS) which often result in deafness despite aggressive management. Meningiomas, ependymomas, and other cranial nerve and peripheral schwannomas are also commonly found in NF2 and collectively lead to major neurologic morbidity and mortality. Traditionally, the overall survival rate in...
متن کاملNeurofibromatosis: part 2--clinical management.
Part 1 of this guideline addressed the differential diagnosis of the neurofibromatoses (NF): neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) and schwannomatosis (SCH). NF shares some features such as the genetic origin of the neural tumors and cutaneous manifestations, and affects nearly 80 thousand Brazilians. Increasing scientific knowledge on NF has allowed better clinical man...
