چکیده

BACKGROUND: Obesity has been widely associated with structural and functional changes in the brain, whereas inflammation is one of potential mechanisms involved these changes.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to prove relationship between serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels obesity predictor markers (body mass index waist hip ratio) (interleukin-6 Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha) females obesity.
METHODS: used a cross-sectional method using 33 aged 19-23 years, body (BMI) > 27.5 kg/m2, normal blood pressure, resting heart rate (RHR), hemoglobin (Hb), fasting glucose (FBG) ? 100 mg/dL. The examination BDNF, IL-6, TNF-? Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method. data were analyzed Pearson product-moment test significant p<0.05.
 RESULTS: results indicated that there negative correlation BDNF BMI (r = –0.759; p<0.001), WHR –0.675; IL-6 –0.530; p<0.001) –0.561; p<0.001).
CONCLUSION: Based on study, BMI, ratio, obesity. Further studies are needed confirm present findings.

Serum Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor Levels in Different Neurological Diseases

Consistent evidence indicates the involvement of the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD). In the present study, we compared serum BDNF in 624 subjects: 266 patients affected by AD, 28 by frontotemporal dementia (FTD), 40 by Lewy body dementia (LBD), 91 by vascular dementia (VAD), 30 by PD, and 169 ...

Evidence of associations between brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) serum levels and gene polymorphisms with tinnitus

BACKGROUND Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene polymorphisms are associated with abnormalities in regulation of BDNF secretion. Studies also linked BDNF polymorphisms with changes in brainstem auditory-evoked response test results. Furthermore, BDNF levels are reduced in tinnitus, psychiatric disorders, depression, dysthymic disorder that may be associated with stress, conversion diso...

O-3: Obesity, Insulin Resistance and Their Correlation with Testosterone Levels in Male Patients

Background: Obesity and insulin resistance refer to a clustering of various medical conditions, with a number of pathological components that contribute to the development of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Some studies have shown that free testosterone levels are low in obese men and are inversely correlated with the degree of obesity. In addition, leptin levels increases with obesity tha...

Correlation between Mean Serum Ferritin Levels and Atrial Electrocardiographic Markers in Beta-Thalassemia Major

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia in patients with β-thalassemia major (β-TM) due to cardiac iron overload. AF may be predicted by changes in P wave parameters. The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between P-wave parameters and atrial markers with mean serum ferritin levels measured yearly. Methods: Fifty patients with β-TM and 50 healthy subje...
