چکیده
The unsteady flow characteristics and responses of an NACA 0012 airfoil fitted with a bio-inspired morphing trailing edge flap (TEF) at near-stall angles attack (AoA) undergoing downward deflections are investigated Reynolds number 0.62 × 106 near stall. An geometric parametrization dynamic meshing scheme used to drive the motion. objective is determine susceptibility actuation viability rapid deflection as control mechanism, including its effect on transient forces field unsteadiness. studied for range frequencies (at fixed large amplitude), using high-fidelity, hybrid RANS-LES model. time histories lift drag coefficient exhibit proportional relationship between frequency slope response which these quantities evolve. Interestingly, overshoot in captured, even quasi-static conditions, however this not seen coefficient. Qualitative analysis confirms that stall conditions receptive TEF deflections, some similarities triggering exist TEFs ramp-up type pitching motions.

Plunging Airfoil Load Characteristics Equipped with Gurney Flap
Numerous experiments have been conducted on plunging Eppler 361 airfoil in a subsonic wind tunnel. The experimental tests involved measuring the surface pressure distribution over the airfoil at Re=1.5×105. The airfoil was equipped with Gurney flap(heights of 2.6, 3.3 and 5% chord) and plunged at 6cm amplitude. The unsteady aerodynamic loads were calculated from the surface pressure measurement...

متن کاملAdjoint-based Unsteady Airfoil Design Optimization with Application to Dynamic Stall
This paper presents the development and application of an adjoint-based optimization method to designing airfoils with the objective of alleviating dynamic stall effects in helicopter rotor blades. The unsteady flow problem is simulated using the NSU2D code, which is a two-dimensional unsteady, viscous, turbulent Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) finite-volume solver. The corresponding adj...
متن کاملUnsteady Flow Volumes
Flow volumes [1] are extended for use in unsteady (timedependent) flows. The resulting unsteady flow volumes are the 3 dimensional analog of streaklines. There are few examples where methods other than particle tracing have been used to visualize time varying flows. Since particle paths can become convoluted in time there are additional considerations to be made when extending any visualization...
متن کاملRotating Stall in Axial Flow Compressors
Ever increasing demand of higher pressure ratio of aero-engine compressors has always been hindered by two distinct aerodynamic instabilities. The first known as surge is; large one dimensional periodic mass flow fluctuation through the compressor, which involves the entire pumping system including compressor, ducting, plenum and throttle. The second is the rotating stall which can be character...
