Near-Equiatomic μ Phase in Self-Sharpening Tungsten-Based High-Entropy Alloys

چکیده
The topologically close-packed (TCP) μ phase is usually known as an undesirable precipitation in highly alloyed Ni-base superalloys and steels. However, the ultrastrong with micron/nano-scale distribution plays a key role driving emergence of self-sharpening our recently developed WMoFeNi high-entropy alloy (HEA). Herein, detailed study carried out to understand substructure atomic occupation μphase by scanning electron microscope (SEM) aberration-corrected transmission (ACTEM). Fe/Ni W/Mo element pairs are equivalent structure. Moreover, elements exhibit near-equiatomic ratio, can grow during annealing at 1150 °C. (0001)μ (11¯02)μ twins main substructures phase, their configurations twinning mechanisms investigated. geometrical structural analysis possesses great significance for design HEAs.

Power-law creep in near-equiatomic nickel–titanium alloys
The compressive creep behavior of nickel-rich B2–NiTi (with 50–140 lm grain size) was studied over the stress range 3–11 MPa and the temperature range 950–1100 C. The stress exponent (n = 2.7) and activation energy (Q = 155 kJ mol ) are compared with a literature review of NiTi creep studies performed over lower temperature and/or higher stresses. Possible explanations for discrepancies between...
متن کاملNear equiatomic FeCo alloys: constitution, mechanical and magnetic properties
Alloys based on the near-equiatomic FeCo offer exceptional magnetic properties. The equiatomic alloy was ‘invented’ in 1929, it offers a saturation hardly lower than that of the maximum obtained for Fe-0.35Co, with higher permeability and a lower coercivity than the latter. However, this alloy remained without industrial application, mainly because of its extreme brittleness. Only with the addi...
متن کاملElectrolytic Tungsten Needle Sharpening
F sharpened tungsten needles are essential tools required for the manipulation of small particles (1, 2, 3). They can be purchased commercially from Fine Science Tools at a cost of roughly $100 for a set of ten needles. Tungsten needles can easily become damaged during routine use, and accidentally bumping the sharpened end of a tungsten needle immediately renders it useless. For laboratories t...
متن کاملFormation and Disruption of W-Phase in High-Entropy Alloys
High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are single-phase systems prepared from equimolar or near-equimolar concentrations of at least five principal elements. The combination of high mixing entropy, severe lattice distortion, sluggish diffusion and cocktail effect favours the formation of simple phases—usually a bcc or fcc matrix with minor inclusions of ordered binary intermetallics. HEAs have been propose...
متن کاملTailoring the physical properties of Ni-based single-phase equiatomic alloys by modifying the chemical complexity
Equiatomic alloys (e.g. high entropy alloys) have recently attracted considerable interest due to their exceptional properties, which might be closely related to their extreme disorder induced by the chemical complexity. In order to understand the effects of chemical complexity on their fundamental physical properties, a family of (eight) Ni-based, face-center-cubic (FCC), equiatomic alloys, ex...
